As of August 1, 2026, Ukraine's sunflower seed stocks stood at 947 thousand tonnes, bringing inventories close to the one-million-tonne mark. At the same time, soybean stocks totaled 560 thousand tonnes, while rapeseed inventories reached 205 thousand tonnes. These figures indicate substantial raw material reserves ahead of the new oilseed processing season.
During the September–June 2025/26 marketing year, Ukrainian processors crushed 9.66 million tonnes of sunflower seed, while exports of raw sunflower seed remained minimal at just 39 thousand tonnes. This confirms that Ukraine continues to prioritize domestic processing and the production of sunflower oil and meal rather than exporting raw seed.
Processing activity also remained strong in other oilseed segments. Of the 5.379 million tonnes of soybeans available during the season, 2.65 million tonnes were processed domestically and 2.169 million tonnes were exported. Rapeseed resources totaled 3.446 million tonnes, of which 1.34 million tonnes were processed in Ukraine and 1.901 million tonnes were exported. In July alone, processors crushed around 64 thousand tonnes of rapeseed, producing 27 thousand tonnes of rapeseed oil.
Market analysts note that the large sunflower inventories provide a solid raw material base for Ukraine's crushing industry at the beginning of the new season. Future processing activity and domestic price trends will largely depend on the size of the 2026 harvest, global demand for sunflower oil, and the stability of Ukraine's export logistics.
