During the first half of 2026, Ukrainian seaports handled 42.4 million tonnes of cargo, including 23.6 million tonnes of agricultural products. Compared with the same period in 2025, agricultural cargo throughput increased by 20%, highlighting the crucial role of maritime logistics in Ukraine's export system.
Grain and oilseed crops continued to account for the largest share of cargo traffic. The increase was made possible by the stable operation of the Ukrainian Maritime Corridor and the coordinated work of port operators, farmers, carriers, seafarers, and Ukraine's Defense Forces, which continue to safeguard maritime navigation.
The growth comes despite ongoing Russian attacks on port infrastructure. According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, since the start of the full-scale invasion approximately 1,000 port infrastructure facilities have been damaged or partially destroyed, 221 civilian vessels have been affected, and hundreds of industry workers have suffered from the attacks. Nevertheless, Ukrainian ports continue to fulfill international trade contracts and maintain uninterrupted export operations.
The continued expansion of agricultural cargo handling is expected to remain an important driver of Ukraine's economy. Stable port operations enable producers to sustain exports, strengthen their position in global markets, and secure vital foreign currency revenues despite ongoing wartime challenges.
