As of 18 August 2026, Ukrainian farmers had harvested 6.59 million hectares, or 56% of the planned early grain and pulse area. Total grain production has reached 30.84 million tonnes, exceeding the pace recorded at the same point last year. The national average yield currently stands at 46.8 centners per hectare.
Wheat accounts for the largest share of the harvest, with 23.82 million tonnes collected from 4.86 million hectares at an average yield of 49.1 c/ha. Farmers have also harvested 6.24 million tonnes of barley with an average yield of 43.4 c/ha, 779 thousand tonnes of peas at 26.3 c/ha, while millet harvesting has begun with 2.7 thousand tonnes already collected.
The largest grain volumes have been harvested in the Odesa, Kirovohrad, and Mykolaiv regions. Meanwhile, Khmelnytskyi Region currently records the country's highest average grain yield at 69.9 c/ha, followed by Sumy (59.8 c/ha) and Vinnytsia (59.5 c/ha).
Harvesting of rapeseed is also progressing steadily. Farmers have already harvested 1.32 million hectares, producing 3.76 million tonnes of seed with an average yield of 28.5 c/ha. Despite the strong harvest results, Ukraine's agricultural sector continues to face significant challenges, including constrained Black Sea exports, logistics disruptions, and increasing pressure on grain storage capacity. Consequently, the pace of grain marketing will largely depend on the efficiency of alternative export routes.
