In 2026, agricultural insurance in Ukraine is gaining new momentum driven by state support. For the first time, the national budget includes dedicated funding for this sector—approximately UAH 60 million allocated to compensate part of insurance premiums for farmers.
The mechanism предусматривает compensation of up to 45% of insurance costs, with even higher support levels for farms operating in high-risk areas. This makes insurance tools more accessible and allows producers to partially offset losses caused by weather conditions, war-related risks, and biological threats.
Global practice shows that agricultural insurance markets develop most actively with state participation. Compensation at the level of 40–60% significantly encourages farmers to insure their crops, thereby improving the financial stability of the sector.
In Ukraine, this instrument is still in the development stage. However, the introduction of systematic support creates the foundation for building a полноценный agricultural risk insurance market.
Thus, 2026 may become a turning point for agricultural insurance. Provided stable funding and trust from farmers, this segment has the potential to become one of the key risk management tools in agribusiness.
