During the 2025/26 marketing year, Ukrainian grain was exported to dozens of countries, with Turkey, Italy, and Egypt emerging as the largest buyers. This export geography highlights sustained demand for Ukrainian grain from both European markets and countries across the Middle East and North Africa. At the same time, export destinations continue to evolve in response to global market conditions and logistics developments.
Turkey became the largest importer of Ukrainian corn, purchasing approximately 6.5 million tonnes. Other major corn buyers included Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, and Israel. For wheat, the leading destinations remained Egypt, Algeria, and Indonesia, while China ranked first among buyers of Ukrainian barley, ahead of Turkey and Libya.
Analysts note that although Ukraine's total grain exports declined compared with the previous season, the country continues to maintain a strong presence in global markets. Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Asian countries are playing an increasingly important role, while export flows to some European destinations are gradually changing. This diversification helps reduce market risks and supports stable demand for Ukrainian grain.
Looking ahead, experts believe that harvest volumes, grain competitiveness, freight costs, and the reliable operation of Black Sea export routes will remain the key factors shaping Ukraine's export performance. These elements will determine whether the country can strengthen its position in traditional markets while expanding into new destinations.
