Ukraine’s western road border crossings continue to experience significant pressure. As of September 4, 7,052 trucks were registered in the country’s eQueue system for outbound border crossings. However, the situation has improved slightly: on August 31, the number stood at 7,854 vehicles, meaning the queue decreased by 802 trucks, or 10.2%, within several days.
The Polish border remains the busiest route. A total of 5,418 trucks are registered for crossing there, accounting for around 77% of the overall number. Another 1,260 vehicles are registered on the Romanian border, 274 on the Moldovan border, 93 on the Slovak border and only 7 on the Hungarian border.
The heaviest pressure on the Polish route is recorded at the Yahodyn–Dorohusk crossing, with 1,109 trucks registered, and Krakivets–Korczowa, with 1,022 vehicles. The longest estimated waiting time is reported at Shehyni–Medyka for empty trucks weighing more than 3.5 tonnes, where it exceeds 5 days and 22 hours.
At the same time, the eQueue figures do not mean that all these vehicles are physically lined up directly at border checkpoints. Drivers can register in advance and wait for their scheduled crossing time at a company facility, parking area or another location. The increased number of registrations at the end of summer is partly seasonal, while slower cargo processing due to updated customs procedures is adding pressure on some crossings with Poland.
