Ukraine's agricultural sector became the leading segment of the country's mergers and acquisitions (M&A) market by deal value in 2025. Despite the challenges of wartime conditions, agriculture remains one of the most attractive industries for investors and continues to play a central role in the national economy. According to KPMG, the sector accounted for nearly one-third of all M&A transactions completed in Ukraine during the year.

The largest transaction of the year was MHP's acquisition of a 92% stake in Spanish meat producer Uvesa. This deal represented the largest share of investment value in the agricultural sector and became one of the most significant international acquisitions by a Ukrainian company in recent years. Investor interest also remained strong in domestic agricultural assets, including dairy farming, crop production, and land-based businesses.

Analysts note that investment activity is no longer driven solely by major agricultural holdings. Entrepreneurs from other industries are increasingly entering the agricultural market, viewing it as a promising long-term investment opportunity. Despite ongoing wartime challenges, the sector continues to demonstrate resilience, while Ukrainian companies are expanding both domestic and international investment activity.

Experts believe that investor interest in agricultural assets could increase further as security conditions improve and land market reforms continue. Agriculture remains one of the strongest pillars of Ukraine's investment landscape and is expected to remain a major driver of future M&A activity in the coming years.
