Ukraine is expected to significantly increase corn exports in the 2026/27 season due to favorable weather conditions and projected higher yields. According to the Ukrainian Grain Association, corn shipments to international markets could reach 26 million tons, approximately 18% higher than in the previous marketing year.
Analysts note that one of the main reasons behind the optimistic forecast is the snowy winter, which provided strong soil moisture reserves. As a result, Ukraine’s corn harvest could rise to 32.6 million tons. At the same time, the agricultural sector continues operating under fertilizer shortages, rising energy costs, and ongoing risks to port infrastructure caused by the war.
Ukrainian exporters are also redirecting trade flows toward alternative markets. Due to EU import quota restrictions, agricultural companies are expected to expand shipments to Türkiye, Egypt, Indonesia, and Middle Eastern countries. Experts emphasize that market diversification is becoming a strategic component of long-term stability for Ukrainian grain exports.
Despite economic and security challenges, Ukraine remains one of the world’s leading corn exporters. Market specialists believe that stable maritime export corridors and the development of alternative logistics routes will help maintain the competitiveness of Ukrainian agricultural products even amid global uncertainty.
